Rules of shooting

Ready to start shooting! - Do not walk on to the shooting line until the field is clear or the whistle is blown once. - Shoot the arrows, and move off the shooting line (see item 1 below). - Collecting arrows can commence when everyone has finished shooting, moved off the shooting line and the whistle is blown twice. - The whistle blown three times means stop shooting immediately, or the end of a competition. If you hear someone call ‘FAST’, it also means stop shooting immediately.

Archery Etiquette

Archers should not walk on to, or off the shooting line, when a neighbouring Archer is at full draw.
Archers should not talk in a loud voice whilst others are shooting, or talk on the shooting line, which might distract other Archers who are shooting. Should an arrow bounce out of the boss, tell the Judge or Field Captain, you might be allowed to shoot one more arrow.
When calling scores, the Archer does so in groups of three, starting with the highest scoring arrow i.e. 9-7-5 pause 5-5-4.
The arrows should not be touched or pulled from the target until all scores have been recorded. Each target has a target Captain, usually No. 3 on the target, who makes sure that scoring is done correctly. Scoring can be shared, but ask another archer to record your own score.
Make sure no one stands behind you when pulling the arrows from the boss. Archers should not go behind the target to look for arrows before their scores have been recorded.
Alteration shall not be made on a score sheet to the value of any arrow, without the supervision of a Judge or Field Captain presiding at the shoot.
Scores must always be recorded in ink and score sheets dated, marked with the name of the round shot, and countersigned by another Archer, before submission to the Records Officer.
Archers should not touch anyone else's archery equipment without permission.

Gamesmanship

When taking part in a competition, or just shooting a round, the Archer should not compare the scores with other Archers, or comment on any ones shooting, whilst the competition is in progress.

Be considerate! Don’t distract the other archers!
Like you, they want to do their best!
